Sonic, an EVM layer-1 platform offering developers attractive incentives and powerful infrastructure, has announced a collaboration with HackQuest, a one-stop Web3 developer education platform, to launch the Sonic Learning Track.
Sonic Learning Track aims to equip developers worldwide with the resources and expertise to fully leverage Sonic’s cutting-edge features. By combining 10,000 TPS and sub-second finality with transaction fees under $0.01, Sonic provides a robust environment that addresses the blockchain “trilemma” of decentralization, security, and scalability. Sonic’s goal is to pioneer the growth of decentralized ecosystems, driving forward the future of crypto-enabled innovations.
The Sonic Gateway is a built-in bridge that manages token transfers between Ethereum and Sonic. It operates through a straightforward three-step process—deposit, heartbeat, and claim—to streamline asset flow. Heartbeats bundle transactions for cost efficiency, taking around ten minutes from Ethereum to Sonic and about an hour in reverse, although developers can opt for the Fast Lane feature to trigger immediate bridging for a small fee. A fail-safe mechanism protects user funds: if the Gateway is down for fourteen consecutive days, assets can be reclaimed on Ethereum. At launch, four tokens—USDC, EURC, WETH, and FTM—are supported, with more planned for future releases. This approach ensures robust interoperability while maintaining security, making the Sonic Gateway a compelling option for developers seeking swift and dependable token transfers.
In December 2024, Sonic introduced the Sonic mainnet, an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain delivering 10,000 TPS, sub-second finality, and a decentralized gateway to Ethereum. Developed by the same team behind Fantom, Sonic and its S token empower developers with robust incentives, seamless upgrades from FTM to S, and a powerful infrastructure for next-generation applications. Leveraging proven expertise, the platform aims to become a DeFi hub by providing smooth user experiences, extensive liquidity, and unparalleled performance.
Sonic is fueling network expansion by allocating 190.5 million S tokens through an airdrop program for both users and developers—one of the largest and most anticipated in early 2025. This initiative uses two key incentive mechanisms: Sonic Points, which reward end-users for early adoption, asset holding, and consistent engagement, and Sonic Gems, which recognize developers who build applications that drive user interaction and spark innovation. Developers can convert Gems into S tokens and distribute them to users, fostering sustained participation throughout the ecosystem.
The Sonic Learning Track is designed for developers and founders who want to build within Sonic's ecosystem. It covers Sonic fundamental concepts and Solidity syntax while providing step-by-step guided practical tutorials.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with Sonic's features through projects such as creating fungible tokens, implementing secret auctions, building a cryptocurrency market assistant, and developing an upgradable CryptoKitties game on Sonic. Available in both English and Mandarin, the course is beginner-friendly and requires only basic blockchain knowledge. The Sonic Learning Track provides a comprehensive introduction to development on Sonic.
The curriculum covers Sonic architecture and Solidity basics, progresses to Sonic's innovative FeeM incentive model, the decentralized native cross-chain bridge Sonic Gateway, its unique consensus mechanism, and concludes with Sonic deployment. HackQuest enhances learning with personalized dashboards, goal-setting, and gamified missions for an interactive and rewarding experience.
To enhance the Sonic learning track experience, HackQuest and Sonic are hosting an instructor-led co-learning camp that fosters a collaborative environment. Upon completion, participants will earn a jointly issued certificate, represented as an on-chain Soul-bound Token (SBT). By the end of the track, learners will have practical experience and the skills to design and build accessible applications in the Sonic ecosystem.
Sonic and HackQuest are collaborating to empower developers in building user-centric Web3 applications. This partnership integrates a range of initiatives, including hackathons, co-learning programs, hacker houses, meetups, and multilingual support, to drive broader adoption of solutions built on the Sonic platform.
The learning track and post-learning support are structured to provide participants with hands-on skills and ongoing resources, laying the groundwork for sustained growth. Together, these efforts strive to extend the Sonic ecosystem’s global reach and impact, while assisting developers at every stage.
Join the Sonic Learning Track today and take your first step toward building scalable, consumer-ready blockchain applications.
