Technical Writing on OG Lab (Zero Gravity)
live in a world where everything is centralized, and a few people control how things are done.
AI has existed for a long time, but it mostly works in centralized systems owned by big companies. Now, 0G is changing that.
In this thread, I’ll break down the technical parts of OG Lab and explain why 0G truly matters.
Why 0G Matters
AI is taking over the world, making tasks easier and faster. But access to powerful AI remains limited to a small group of privileged people. Most developers, students, and creators can’t afford the high cost of running AI models.
That’s why we have 0G the first decentralized AI Layer 1 blockchain.

What is 0G?
0G (Zero Gravity) is the first decentralized Layer 1 blockchain built to scale both AI and blockchain together.
It combines hardware resources (storage + GPU compute) and software resources (data + AI models) to allow anyone to run large scale AI tasks cheaply, smoothly, and in a fully decentralized way. This makes 0G the bridge between powerful Web2 AI capabilities and the decentralized world of Web3.
0G makes this possible by using four independent services, each solving a different part of the AI and blockchain puzzle.
These services are:
➠ Storage: where large AI datasets are stored securely and reliably.
➠ Compute power: how the computer uses its power to run AI programs or models efficiently and without costing too much.
➠ Blockchain: the network where AI transactions are executed simply and quickly.
➠ Data Availability: it makes sure that data is always available, easy to access, and never lost.

What is OG chain?
0G Chain is a special kind of blockchain built for AI. It can run big and heavy AI tasks directly on the blockchain. It processes large amounts of data and handles many transactions without slowing down or breaking.
The 0G Chain is built in a modular way, where the system is divided into different parts, and each part has its own job.
One of these parts is the Consensus Layer, which is responsible for verifying transactions and adding them to the blockchain.
Let take a look at the architecture overview:
➠ Consensus Layer: This is the process on the blockchain where all validators agree on a transaction before it can be added to the blockchain. Think of it like sending money from your bank account, the bank checks and confirms the transaction before it goes through. On the blockchain, validators act like the bank, making sure everything is correct and safe before adding it permanently.
➠ Execution Layer: This is the part of the blockchain that makes sure smart contracts run correctly after commands are given. It moves tokens from one wallet to another, updates balances, and keeps track of all transactions, recording when and where they happen on the blockchain. It works with the computer’s 0s and 1s to make everything happen accurately.
The Key Technical Advantages:
➠ Independent Upgradability: The Execution Layer can be updated and improved on its own, without affecting other parts of the blockchain.
It can also add new Ethereum features, like EIPs (Ethereum Improvement Proposals) and account abstraction, which make accounts more flexible.
It can understand new basic instructions (opcodes) that let developers do more things with smart contracts.
➠ Focused Optimization: The Consensus Layer can be upgraded on its own to improve speed, scalability, and security, without affecting the EVM or smart contracts running on the blockchain.
➠ Accelerated Development: The Consensus Layer and Execution Layer can work independently at the same time. Developers don’t have to wait for one layer to finish before improving the other. New features and upgrades can be released faster to improve performance without breaking the system.

OG Chain's modular architecture enables seamless integration with storage, compute, and DA layers
This architectural design makes 0G Chain flexible and fast. It can adapt to new blockchain features without breaking, making upgrades easy. This keeps 0G Chain ready for AI workloads while staying up to date with the latest technology.
What is 0G Compute?
0G Compute is a system that allows people to share and use AI computing power in a decentralized way. It works like a marketplace where GPU owners sell their computing power to developers who need it.
Developers can pay and use this power anytime they want, and it is much cheaper compared to renting from traditional systems like AWS or Google Cloud.
How it works for AI users
➠ Deposit Funds: You add money to your account so you can access the GPU services you want to use.
➠ Request Service: You send the type of AI task you need like running a model, generating output, or training an AI using data.
➠ Get Results: The system finds the best available GPU for your request and sends back the result of your AI task.
➠ Automatic Payment: You only pay for the exact amount of compute you used no extra charges, no hidden fees.
How it works for GPU Owners
➠ Register Hardware: You can list your GPU and provide details about its power and availability.
➠ Set Your Price: You choose how much to charge people who want to use your GPU for AI workloads.
➠ Process Requests: When someone needs computing power, the system automatically sends the job to your GPU if it’s the best fit.
➠ Instant Earnings: You get paid immediately after your GPU finishes the job.
Why this method is better than traditional GPU providers.
Your money is safely held in a smart contract and only released once the AI service is delivered. Every transaction is securely verified and recorded on the blockchain, making it visible and transparent. Using Zero Knowledge Proofs, transactions are confirmed fast and much more cheaply than traditional systems.
You can Access the OG GPU compute from anywhere in the world, with direct integration with any chain. The GPU provider doesn’t keep your data. Your data is only used for the AI task and is not stored permanently. The system can also prove that the AI computations were done correctly without you having to check everything yourself.
