About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Security to lead all security functions for our cryptocurrency exchange operations in Japan. This role will be responsible for protecting digital assets, ensuring platform security, and maintaining compliance with Japan’s regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the overall security strategy aligned with business and regulatory requirements
• Lead cybersecurity, infrastructure, and blockchain security initiatives
• Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those set by the Financial Services Agency
• Oversee threat monitoring, detection, and incident response operations
• Design and maintain secure wallet infrastructure (hot and cold storage)
• Conduct security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments
• Integrate security best practices into the development lifecycle (DevSecOps)
• Manage third-party security vendors and perform risk assessments
• Build, lead, and mentor the internal security team
• Act as the primary escalation point for security incidents and regulatory matters
• Drive organization-wide security awareness and training programs

Requirements:

• Currently based in Japan (mandatory)
• 8+ years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Prior experience in cryptocurrency, blockchain, or fintech industries
• Strong knowledge of blockchain security, cryptography, and wallet systems
• Business-level English and Chinese language proficiency required; Japanese is a strong plus
• Hands-on experience with security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2)
