Senior Smart Contract Engineer
Ironclad Ledger
Ironclad Ledger is a blockchain development company building secure, scalable Web3 solutions across Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks. Our work spans smart contract development, DeFi applications, tokenization, NFTs, and cross-chain solutions.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Smart Contract Engineer to design, develop, test, review, and deploy secure, gas-efficient smart contracts across Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks.
You'll contribute to production-ready blockchain applications, help shape technical architecture, make sound engineering decisions, and apply security-first development practices throughout the development lifecycle.
This is a remote contract opportunity with an expected commitment of 20-40 hours per week. US-based candidates are preferred, but qualified candidates worldwide are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy secure Solidity smart contracts on Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks, including Polygon and Arbitrum.
- Build and maintain automated test suites using Foundry or Hardhat.
- Review smart contracts for vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and implementation risks.
- Optimize gas consumption and analyze contract performance.
- Contribute to smart contract architecture, code reviews, and technical decisions.
- Document contract architecture, technical specifications, and implementation details.
- Stay current with Solidity, EVM developments, relevant EIPs, and smart contract security best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to deliver reliable blockchain solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional blockchain development experience.
- Strong understanding of Solidity and EVM internals, including storage layout, execution, and gas mechanics.
- Practical experience with token standards such as ERC-20, ERC-721, or ERC-1155.
- Proficiency with Foundry or Hardhat.
- Strong understanding of common smart contract vulnerabilities and secure development practices.
- Hands-on experience in at least two relevant areas, such as DeFi protocols, automated market makers (AMMs), lending, staking, upgradeable contracts, or access-control systems.
- Experience writing automated tests. Familiarity with fuzz testing, invariant testing, or static analysis is a plus.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a remote team.
- Ability to manage responsibilities across ongoing development projects and adapt to changing technical requirements.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with Rust or Go.
- Familiarity with Layer 2 networks and cross-chain messaging protocols.
- Experience with ERC-4337 and account abstraction.
- Knowledge of zero-knowledge proofs or privacy-preserving technologies.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor.
Compensation & Work Arrangement
- Compensation: $70-$120 USD per hour, depending on experience, technical expertise, location, and project requirements.
- Engagement: Ongoing contract supporting Ironclad Ledger's blockchain development work.
- Availability: Expected commitment of 20-40 hours per week.
- Location: Fully remote. US-based candidates are preferred, but qualified candidates worldwide are welcome to apply.
- Working style: Flexible scheduling and asynchronous collaboration, with reasonable overlap for team coordination.
