Description

FreshRescue is a smart food waste management app designed to tackle two pressing issues: food wastage and hunger. Developed by Team 404 Found, the app connects food donors – such as restaurants, households, and grocery stores – with NGOs, shelters, and individuals who can utilize the surplus food.

The app allows users to seamlessly list extra food, notify nearby verified recipients, and coordinate safe, real-time pickups. Key features include food safety guidelines, pickup tracking, a built-in review system, and an easy-to-use interface that promotes accessibility for all user types.

By streamlining the process of food donation and encouraging a circular, community-driven solution, FreshRescue aims to create a sustainable ecosystem where no edible food is wasted – and no one goes hungry.

Progress During Hackathon

We developed a working prototype of FreshRescue, focusing on core features like food listing, user authentication, location-based matching, and real-time pickup coordination. A simple, user-friendly UI was built, and basic safety guidelines and a review system were integrated to ensure trust and usability. The app was demo-ready by the end of the hackathon.
