Project Description – Avoid Scam

Avoid Scam is a smart solution designed to protect users from online fraud, phishing, and scams. The system uses AI and pattern analysis to scan messages, emails, and links in real time. If suspicious content is detected, it immediately warns the user with a clear explanation and safety tips.

In addition to detection, Avoid Scam focuses on education by showing common scam examples, reporting features, and awareness guides to help users recognize threats on their own. The platform is simple, accessible, and designed for everyone—from students to elderly users—ensuring that people can browse, chat, and transact online with confidence.

By combining technology and awareness, Avoid Scam empowers individuals to stay safe, avoid financial loss, and build a more secure digital community.

Progress During Hackathon

Progress During Hackathon – Avoid Scam During the hackathon, our team made significant progress in developing the Avoid Scam solution. We started by identifying common scam patterns, such as phishing emails, fake links, and suspicious messages. Using these insights, we built an AI-based detection model capable of scanning text and URLs to flag potential scams. A basic web and mobile prototype was developed, where users can paste links or messages to check their safety. We implemented a real-time alert system that assigns a risk score and provides simple explanations for flagged content. Additionally, we added an educational section with examples of scams and preventive tips to raise user awareness. Collaboration was a key factor—we divided tasks into model development, UI/UX design, and backend integration to speed up progress. By the end of the hackathon, we had a functional demo showcasing scam detection, user alerts, and awareness features. This progress demonstrates the feasibility of Avoid Scam as a practical tool to make online interactions safer for everyone.
