BookBro is a vibrant, all-in-one platform designed for book lovers seeking more than just a place to read. Combining personalized recommendations, global book-based discussions, seamless purchasing, and author interaction, BookBro transforms how readers connect with literature.

At its heart, BookBro solves a real-world problem: finding meaningful, personalized book recommendations in an overwhelming sea of options. With an advanced recommendation algorithm that analyzes user preferences, history, and genre affinities, BookBro delivers curated suggestions tailored to each reader.

Each book comes with a dedicated global chatroom—a space where readers can dive into real-time discussions, share insights, ask questions, and build a literary community across borders. The platform is also enhanced with author talk shows and live sessions, offering direct interaction with the minds behind the stories.

Through affiliate integrations with top retailers like Amazon and Flipkart, BookBro provides a one-click path from discovery to purchase. The platform compares prices across stores, ensuring a smooth, convenient shopping experience.

For aspiring writers, BookBro becomes a launchpad. Users can publish their own work on the platform, receive feedback, and grow with the community’s support.

To keep engagement high, BookBro introduces features like reading streak, subscription model. Premium subscribers gain early access to content, exclusive talk shows, and personalized services.

Built using HTML CSS for the front end and Flask for the backend services, BookBro is scalable, secure, and user-friendly. All development follows strict privacy standards (e.g., GDPR/CCPA) and ensures transparent use of data and affiliate marketing guidelines.

Progress During Hackathon

During the hackathon, our team made significant strides in turning BookBro from an idea into a functional prototype. We began by defining the core features — author talkshows, global book-specific chat rooms — and then split responsibilities based on individual strengths. The front-end team built a sleek and intuitive UI using Canva, HTML, and CSS, implementing core screens such as the home page, book feed, and discussion sections. Simultaneously, we set up Flask for user authentication and backend database support, enabling smooth sign-in/sign-up functionality and storing book data and chat logs securely. We also implemented a functionality where budding authors can publish their books. To enhance community interaction, we created a real-time discussion module where users can chat in dedicated rooms for each book. Additional features such as author talkshow integration (live sessions) and a subscription model for premium content access were ideated and partially prototyped for future development. By the end of the hackathon, we had a working MVP that showcased our vision of an all-in-one platform for readers — blending discovery, discussion, and digital book culture in one seamless app.

Fundraising Status

The platform operates on a dual-plan model offering both free and subscription-based access, with a strong focus on community engagement and content monetization. In the *Free Plan, users are encouraged to participate by chatting with authors and readers, maintaining a daily reading streak, and attending author talk shows for a fee of ₹89 per session. Each attendee generates *₹50 for the author*, establishing a clear fundraising loop that directly benefits creators. On the other hand, the **Subscription Plan* provides enhanced access, including two author talk shows and unlimited ebooks for ₹129 per month. The platform further drives revenue by allowing users to *publish their own books for ₹999, tapping into aspiring writers. Additionally, **affiliate-linked book purchases* create a passive income stream. This system not only builds a thriving reading community but also ensures consistent revenue generation through subscriptions, pay-per-event attendance, self-publishing fees, and affiliate marketing—all while offering meaningful incentives to both users and authors.
