Description
📜 ProofHeir: Decentralized Continuity Protocol
"The standard for trustless, privacy-preserving inheritance on Mantle Network."
💡 Executive Summary
ProofHeir is a non-custodial inheritance protocol designed to solve the critical issue of lost digital assets due to death or loss of access. Unlike existing solutions, ProofHeir eliminates the need to share private keys or trust third-party custodians. It utilizes tlsNotary to verify real-world web activity (Proof of Life), Noir ZK-Proofs to protect user privacy, and the innovative EIP-7702 to enable seamless asset succession directly from EOA wallets.
🛑 The Problem: The Digital Abyss
Every year, millions of dollars in crypto-assets and tokenized Real World Assets (RWA) are lost forever because their owners pass away without a clear succession plan. Current options fail due to:
Insecurity: Sharing seed phrases or private keys is a critical security risk.
UX Friction: Forcing users to move their funds into complex "Vaults" breaks liquidity and complicates daily use.
Lack of Privacy: Traditional legal processes are slow, expensive, and expose sensitive personal data.
Here is the updated and expanded version of The Solution in English. It now highlights the modularity of the verification engine, moving from the Civil Registry test case to a broader range of web-attested data sources.
🚀 The Solution: ProofHeir
ProofHeir creates a secure, automated bridge between real-world life events and on-chain asset execution through three core technological pillars:
1. Modular Verification Engine (tlsNotary)
The protocol utilizes a plug-and-play verification architecture powered by tlsNotary. While our primary test case focuses on Civil Registry data to confirm death records, the system is designed to be fully extensible. Users can configure multiple "Proof of Life" triggers, such as:
Web Inactivity: Verifying the last login date on critical services like Gmail, LinkedIn, or Banking portals.
Official Records: Attesting to data from social security databases or insurance claims.
Hybrid Proofs: Integrating Verifiable Credentials (VCs) from certified medical or legal institutions.
By using tlsNotary, ProofHeir can prove the authenticity of this private web data without the protocol ever accessing the user’s passwords or sensitive metadata.
2. Privacy by Design (Noir ZK)
Once the data is retrieved via tlsNotary, Noir ZK-Proofs are used to generate a zero-knowledge proof of the event. This allows the protocol to prove on-chain that "the owner is deceased" or "inactivity criteria have been met" with 100% certainty, while keeping the specific details of the web session—and the deceased’s identity—completely private from the public blockchain.
3. Native Delegation & Execution (EIP-7702)
Leveraging the cutting-edge EIP-7702 standard, ProofHeir allows a standard account (EOA) to delegate transfer authority to the inheritance smart contract only when a valid ZK-proof is presented.
Non-Custodial: The user maintains full control and liquidity of their assets while alive.
Seamless Transition: Unlike traditional "vaults," the assets stay in the user's wallet until the exact moment the inheritance conditions are verified on the Mantle Network.
