Position Overview: 

As a Power BI Developer at Scott Park Group Inc, you will play a crucial role in developing operational reports, automated dashboards, and insightful data presentations using Power BI and other reporting tools. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications for reporting applications. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in database fundamentals to ensure efficient data extraction, shaping, and validation for reporting and analytics solutions.


Key Accountabilities:

Develop operational reports such as dealing and financial system extracts:

  • Design and implement operational reports to extract relevant data from various systems and databases.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in data extraction processes to meet business needs.

Develop automated reports and dashboards using Power BI and other reporting tools:

  • Utilize Power BI and other reporting tools to automate report generation processes.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards to visualize data insights effectively.

Understand business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend business objectives and requirements.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications for reporting applications.

Have a great skill in extracting report presentation for the management:

  • Develop visually appealing and insightful report presentations tailored for management review.
  • Ensure clarity and relevance of information presented to facilitate decision-making processes.

Implement Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices:

  • Establish and maintain effective ALM practices to manage the lifecycle of reporting applications.
  • Coordinate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of reporting solutions.

Documentation:

  • Create comprehensive documentation for reporting applications, including design specifications, user guides, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to support ongoing development and maintenance efforts.

Facilitate Testing:

  • Develop and execute testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of reporting applications.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to conduct thorough testing, identify defects, and implement necessary fixes.

Version Control:

  • Implement version control systems to manage code and configuration changes for reporting applications.
  • Ensure proper versioning and tracking of changes to maintain a reliable development environment.

• MS SQL Server BI Stack (including SSRS and TSQL)

• Power BI

• Power Query

• MDX

• DAX


Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Ability to quickly stage and shape data from various sources into reporting and analytics solutions.

• Experience in creating functional financial reporting.

• Deep understanding of database fundamentals, including relational and multidimensional database design.

• Proficiency in the use of query and reporting analysis tools.

• Strong skills in standardizing data collection through database design and validation reports.

• Experience in providing application analysis and data modeling design for centralized data warehousing.
