Description

NottsHack 2026 is a six-day blockchain and cryptocurrency hackathon organized by the Computer Science Society at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, where teams of 3-5 participants tackle industry-defined challenges across two sponsor tracks. The event features mentorship, workshops, and hands-on guidance from industry professionals, starting online on April 6 with an opening ceremony and five days of remote hacking, and concluding on April 11-12 at the UNMC campus with in-person hacking, pitching, and the final awards ceremony.

Judging Criteria

Main Goal	Build blockchain solutions that address real world problems and improve systems for communities , businesses or institutions
Focus Areas	Financial inclusion, transparent supply chains, digital identity verification, anti-fraud tools, public digital infrastructure, climate and environmental monitoring
Key objectives	Encourage students to build blockchain solutions, identify talented developers, promote transparency and security , connect builders with the blockchain ecosystem
What judges look for	Real-world problem solving, meaningful blockchain use, practicality of deployment, strong potential impact
Important Advice	Avoid generic or AI-generated ideas; focus on original concepts, practical solutions, and user-friendly designs (especially for non-technical users)
Bonus Criteria	Real user perspective, clear deployment path, public good benefits, ethical design, scalability
Submission Requirements	Working prototype/demo, explanation of the problem and solution, description of blockchain use, project presentation

Judging Criteria

Main Goal	Encourage creative applications using DCAI ecosystem tools
Project Types	Web apps, AI assistants, games, dashboards, automation tools, developer tools, productivity apps
Blockchain Requirement	Must integrate at least one interaction with their L3 on Base (API, data access, or ecosystem interaction)
Focus	Innovation and creativity rather than strict blockchain implementation
Minimum Requirement	Use at least one API or interaction from the L3 network
Example Integrations	API calls, data access, blockchain interaction through L3 infrastructure
