Building Web3 at HackQuest x Telos Co-Learning Camp 🚀

@TelosDevelopers is a decentralized blockchain ecosystem that includes Telos EVM, which is tested as the fastest Ethereum Virtual Machine globally, and its high-speed consensus layer, Telos Zero. With its continued focus on helping push forward the global adoption of Zero Knowledge technology, Telos is also currently developing a hardware-accelerated Ethereum Layer 2 network powered by SNARKtor, with the goal of enhancing privacy and scalability for global use cases at scale. Telos is overseen by The Telos Foundation, an ownerless foundation dedicated to advancing the Telos blockchain network and its community.

On September 2024, HackQuest partnered with Telos to launch the Telos Learning Track, empowering the next wave of Web3 innovators to build on the world's fastest EVM! The community response was incredible - we brought together 420+ passionate builders and 150+ determined graduates at the HackQuest x Telos Co-Learning Camp at Chitkara University.

Through 5 action-packed days of Web3 foundations, Solidity development (101-105), and hands-on token & NFT projects, builders dove straight into the Telos Mini Hackathon co-hosted by HackQuest and Telos. The hackathon gained massive traction with 22,881 page views and 223 applications, and our co-learning camp teams contributed 5 innovative projects among the 39 total submissions! With 3,000 USDT in prizes across General Track (2,000 USDT) and Community Track (1,000 USDT), voting is now live - stay tuned for the exciting results! Together, we're not just learning Web3 - we're building the future on Telos, the next-gen DPoS blockchain that makes development accessible to all! 🚀

We kicked off strong with core Web3 concepts and a deep dive into the Telos ecosystem, led by our amazing hosts @geeky_kartikey, @ishankumax, and @CoderKavyaG. Builders mastered blockchain fundamentals, exploring the rich history of Bitcoin and Ethereum before diving into the blockchain trilemma and decentralized wallet architecture. The hands-on demo session brought theory to life, covering everything from basic Web3 stack to practical dApp development approaches. The IRL energy was unmatched, with builders actively engaging in discussions and demonstrations.

Builders got hands-on experience with decentralized wallets, learning the critical security aspects and best practices. The afternoon deep-dive into the Telos ecosystem showcased its unique advantages, particularly focusing on the Telos EVM's superior performance metrics and developer-friendly features. Through interactive demonstrations, participants explored the complete Web3 development stack, from basic blockchain interactions to dApp architecture patterns. The IRL energy was electric, with builders actively participating in live coding sessions and technical discussions. Our community's enthusiasm exploded across Twitter, with more builders sharing their experiences:

Diving deep into the world of smart contracts, Day 2 was all about mastering Solidity fundamentals through hands-on development. The morning session covered Solidity 101, where builders learned about contract structure, data types, functions, and the crucial aspects of gas optimization. Through guided projects, participants wrote and deployed their first smart contracts on Telos, experiencing firsthand the speed and efficiency of the network.

The afternoon's Solidity 102 session focused on token standards and implementation. Every builder successfully created and deployed their own tokens and NFTs on Telos. The hands-on approach meant participants weren't just learning theory – they were shipping functional tokens and understanding the intricacies of token economics. Our community channels were buzzing with deployment success stories, code reviews, and builders helping each other debug their contracts. The collaborative spirit was perfectly captured by the day's social engagement, with devs like @PiyushG94076742 have officially become certified Web3 contributors!

Building on the previous day's momentum, Day 3 elevated the technical complexity with Solidity 103 & 105. The morning focused on advanced contract patterns and security considerations, with builders implementing complex mechanisms like access controls, upgradability patterns, and secure transaction handling. The highlight was the guided project sessions where teams built production-grade applications: a transparent secret auction system and a full-featured staking protocol.

The hands-on sessions were intense but rewarding, with real-world applications taking shape. Our community showed incredible progress, sharing their deployment successes and helping each other debug.

The fourth day transformed theory into practice with intensive hands-on sessions focused on real-world application development. The morning began with a comprehensive review of the week's learnings, followed by dedicated project development time where teams worked on their Telos Mini Hackathon projects.

Teams formed naturally as ideas flowed, and the collaborative spirit was unmatched. A surprise meme competition added the perfect mix of fun and creativity to the intense building sessions. The community's engagement peaked with builders sharing their progress and memes across social platforms.

The demo day & meet-up brought together everything our builders had learned and created throughout the week, with local Web3 enthusiasts and developers from across the area joining us in-person at Chitkara University! Starting with an inspiring opening session, we moved into comprehensive presentations about the Telos blockchain's future roadmap and opportunities for developers. The energy was electric as community members, builders, and students packed the venue to connect, share ideas, and witness our teams showcase their innovative projects built on Telos. It was the perfect way to wrap up our intensive learning journey, bringing the online and offline Web3 communities together for a day of demos, networking, and celebration!

The highlight was our project showcase, where 7 teams presented innovative projects leveraging Telos's capabilities. The diversity and quality of projects demonstrated the real potential of what can be built on Telos. Each team not only presented their technical implementation but also shared their vision for how their projects could impact the Web3 ecosystem.

The graduation ceremony celebrated our 150+ graduates who completed the intensive program, followed by a vibrant networking session where builders connected with peers and mentors. The community's spirit was perfectly captured in the day's testimonials:
