ONYX - Decentralized Commerce Infrastructure
A Web3-native Shopify alternative for sovereign e-commerce
Overview
Onyx is a decentralized, Shopify-like e-commerce infrastructure that enables anyone to launch a fully sovereign Web3 storefront in seconds without writing a single line of Solidity or managing blockchain infrastructure.
Built on a Factory–Proxy smart contract architecture, Onyx allows users to deploy their own individual shop smart contracts at negligible cost while preserving full ownership of funds, data, and storefront logic. Each store is discoverable through a unified on-chain registry creating a seamless Web2-grade user experience with Web3 trust guarantees.
Objective
Onyx aims to:
Lower the technical barrier for launching Web3 commerce platforms.
Eliminate high gas costs associated with deploying traditional smart contracts.
Provide true ownership of storefronts, funds, and data.
Offer a scalable infrastructure for decentralized retail and creator economies.
Problem Statement
Current Web3 commerce solutions suffer from:
High technical complexity (Solidity + frontend + infra required)
Prohibitively expensive L1 deployments
Fragmented storefront discoverability
Poor UX compared to Web2 platforms
Solution
Onyx introduces a Factory–Proxy–Registry model:
One master logic contract
Gas-efficient minimal proxy shops for every merchant
Central registry for global discovery and analytics
Instant subdomain-based storefront deployment
Key Features
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
One-Click Shop Deployment | Create a shop instantly via wallet connection |
Sovereign Ownership | Merchant owns shop contract & funds |
Unified Discovery | Registry aggregates all shops |
Gas-Efficient | Uses Minimal Proxy (EIP-1167) |
Escrow-based Orders | Buyer funds locked until confirmation |
Decentralized Storage | Product & shop metadata stored on IPFS |
Frontend Layer
Framework: Next.js
Wallet & Chain Interaction: wagmi + ethers
Subdomain Engine: Wildcard DNS + on-chain resolution
Hosting: Edge-optimized frontend for dynamic rendering

Use Cases
Web3 entrepreneurs launching digital stores
NFT creators selling physical merchandise
DAOs running decentralized marketplaces
Brands wanting censorship-resistant commerce
Onyx is designed as scalable infrastructure and can expand into:
Cross-chain commerce for multi-network payments and storefronts
DAO-based dispute resolution for trustless buyer–seller arbitration
Advanced merchant analytics & AI optimization for sales, pricing, and inventory
Tokenized loyalty & NFT memberships for community-driven commerce
Web2 & enterprise integrations (Shopify, payments, ERP, fiat on-ramps)
Plugin marketplace & ecosystem tools for third-party developers
RWA & supply chain integration for physical goods tracking
Conclusion
Onyx is not just a DApp, it is foundational commerce infrastructure.
By combining gas-optimized smart contracts, decentralized storage, and Web2-grade UX, it delivers the first truly scalable, sovereign e-commerce protocol.
