About the Assignment:
The Finance Specialist is a critical role servicing predominantly the Country Operations leaders on finance related matters. The role needs someone who has a good working attitude and is willing to go the extra mile. They must also demonstrate good skill with numbers, data, and budgeting.
The purpose is to:
• Monitor and ensure budget and financial requirements are controlled and managed in a structured and timely manner
• Support Core Leads on some finance related work (e.g. expense approvals, monthly budget reports, purchase requests, purchase orders)
The Core Objectives:
• Ensure proper and optimized spending of each department’s budget allocation
• Manage, maintain, and update budget database to track and enforce reporting requirements, in collaboration with the Country Operations team
• Responsible for making sure each department’s expense is properly processed and documented in a timely manner (e.g. valid receipts, approved purchase requests)
• Liaise with other teams and regionally for those activities impacting Country Ops’ budget (e.g. audit, new initiatives)
• Implement initiatives or processes that promote proper spending within Country Operations
• Create Purchase Requests and Purchase Orders for Country Operations depending on the business need
Essential Experience / Criteria:
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, mathematics, engineering or similar
• Practical experience with spreadsheets (such as MS Excel and Google Sheets)
• Has basic understanding and skill in data analysis
