The Project Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting project activities related to promoting climate-adaptive rice farming and anticipatory action insurance for smallholder farmers of Dolores Eastern Samar. The role involves close collaboration with farmers, stakeholders, government agencies, insurance providers, and research institutions to enhance climate resilience in rice production and the Anticipatory Action insurance model.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Implementation & Coordination:

  • Facilitate the introduction and adoption of climate-adaptive rice varieties among farmers.
  • Create an appropriate model of anticipatory action insurance schemes to mitigate risks for farmers.
  • Organize farmer training sessions, demonstrations, and field visits.
  • Coordinate with agricultural experts, government agencies, and private sector partners for project execution.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building:

  • Conduct awareness campaigns and capacity-building workshops on climate-smart agriculture and risk mitigation through insurance.
  • Establish working relationship with local authorities, insurance companies, cooperatives, and farmer groups to ensure project success.
  • Work closely with research institutions and universities to integrate scientific knowledge into project activities.

3. Data Collection, Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Collect and analyze data related to crop yields, climate impact, and insurance effectiveness.
  • Monitor project progress and provide timely updates to the Project Manager.
  • Assist in developing project reports, case studies, and success stories.

4. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper budget utilization and maintain financial accountability in project activities.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and project documentation.
  • Strong understanding of climate-adaptive rice farming techniques and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent research abilities to analyze data, explore innovative practices, and apply evidence-based solutions
  • Knowledge of asset protection and anticipatory action insurance models for smallholder farmers.
  • Excellent project management, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to conduct training, capacity-building programs, and community mobilization.
  • Strong data collection, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Fluency in local language (if applicable) and proficiency in English.
  • Willingness to travel to rural areas and engage with farming communities.
