The Accounting Assistant will provide day-to-day accounting support, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with ensuring compliance with government and regulatory reporting (e.g., the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)). You will play a key role in supporting the Finance team, reconciling accounts, processing payables/receivables, and coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Assist in maintaining accurate business accounting records.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Complete assigned balance sheet general ledger reconciliations monthly and provide support to the Accountant.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the Finance Team.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Manage the accounts receivable process including debtor collections and weekly/monthly reporting in line with company policy.
  • Support the accounts payable process: assist department managers on creditor queries, process supplier invoices, reimbursements and payment requests in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and monitor aging reports and ensure timely collection of receivables.
  • Maintain proper documentation and reconciliation of all AP and AR transactions.

Reconciliations

  • Perform regular inter-company and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and ensure reconciling items are addressed promptly.

Compliance & Tax

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of statutory returns (e.g., VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax).
  • Assist in compliance with BIR, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support external audit processes and respond to auditor queries.
  • Liaise directly with the BIR for compliance-related matters including registration updates, document submissions, and filing of tax returns.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accounting systems and ensure proper documentation of procedures.
  • Participate in system upgrades, process enhancements, and automation initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Accountancy or a Finance-related course.
  • At least 1 year of experience in relevant accounting work.
  • Understanding of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
  • Proficient in MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
