Role Summary

You will own design across the company's physical and digital product line: the industrial hardware our customers mount in panels and plants — controllers, DIN-rail devices, enclosures, HMIs — and the SCADA/process screens their operators watch every day. Hardware and interface design happen concurrently here, not as a handoff: you will ensure the physical device and its on-screen experience are designed as one product.

Responsibilities:

  • Design industrial hardware products such as enclosures, DIN-rail devices, control panels, HMI hardware, and operator-facing equipment.
  • Develop product concepts with consideration for form, usability, ergonomics, mounting, materials, finishes, thermal factors, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and automation teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with engineering requirements.
  • Design SCADA, HMI, and process screen interfaces that support clear operator monitoring, navigation, alarms, and decision-making.
  • Apply industrial UI principles such as clear screen hierarchy, readable layouts, appropriate color use, and consistent interface behavior.
  • Maintain consistency between physical product elements, such as buttons, LEDs, labels, and the digital interface experience.
  • Create and maintain reusable design standards, UI components, and style guides for the company's hardware and HMI/SCADA products.
  • Conduct user research with operators, technicians, engineers, and customers to understand product usability and workflow needs.
  • Use AI-assisted design tools when appropriate for concept development, visualization, rendering, and UI exploration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, UX/UI Design, Human Factors, Engineering Design, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial design, product design, or related technical product design roles.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing digital interfaces, preferably for HMI, SCADA, control systems, dashboards, or operator-facing software.
  • Strong portfolio showing both physical product design and digital interface design work.
  • Experience designing products for industrial, technical, rugged, equipment-based, or manufacturing environments.
  • Good understanding of usability, ergonomics, product functionality, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, software, and automation teams.
  • Strong visual communication, prototyping, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to balance design quality, technical constraints, user needs, and business requirements.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Fusion 360.
  • Experience using Figma for UI design, prototyping, and design systems.
  • Experience with KeyShot or similar rendering software.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/HMI design, industrial process screens, and operator interface design.
  • Working knowledge of ISA-101 and High-Performance HMI principles.
  • Familiarity with ISA-18.2 alarm management concepts.
  • Understanding of IP ratings, NEMA enclosure types, and industrial enclosure design requirements.
  • Experience with platforms such as Siemens WinCC, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or similar automation/HMI systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of AI-supported design tools such as KeyShot AI, Vizcom, Fusion generative design, Figma AI, or similar tools is preferred.
