Major asset classes eventually get a leverage / derivatives layer. Prediction markets are there now. Prediction market volume grew 4× from $15.8B in 2024 to $63.5B in 2025. Trading volume for 2026 is accelerating, $24B/mo in April and $29.4B/mo in May.
The infrastructure still hasn't caught up to support this growth. Core prediction markets remain fully collateralized spot contracts. Traders fund the full maximum loss of each position upfront, while collateral and liquidity sit in isolated, market-specific pools.
