Description

Augmaze is a gamified Virtual Reality educational platform crafted to empower children with special needs through immersive, inclusive, and personalized learning experiences. Recognizing the unique challenges these children face in traditional educational environments, Augmaze leverages cutting-edge VR technology to create a space where learning becomes both accessible and inspiring.

At the heart of Augmaze are Encouragement Rooms—interactive environments designed to uplift students and nurture their ambitions, whether they dream of becoming doctors, engineers, astronauts, or artists. These rooms offer positive reinforcement and role model-driven storytelling to keep students motivated throughout their learning journey.

To address the lack of access to physical infrastructure in many schools, Augmaze offers Virtual Labs, enabling students to visualize and engage with complex scientific concepts in a safe, controlled, and repeatable environment—eliminating the barriers posed by traditional lab setups.

Guiding the students through their adventures is an AI-powered NPC (Non-Player Character), acting as both a virtual teacher and a companion. This intelligent guide adapts to each learner’s pace, provides personalized support, and ensures a sense of connection and companionship throughout the educational process.

With a mission to redefine how education is delivered to children with special needs, Augmaze combines the power of gamification, VR, and AI to make learning more engaging, inclusive, and barrier-free—paving the way for every child to realize their full potential.

Progress During Hackathon

We started by identifying the key challenges faced by specially-abled children in traditional education. From there, we defined core features such as: 1. Virtual Labs 2. AI-driven virtual teachers (NPCs) 3. Encouragement Rooms 4. Gamified lesson flow 5. Personalized user experience We also established the design system and data flow between the frontend, game engine, and backend services. We chose Flutter to build a smooth, intuitive, and accessible user interface across Android, iOS, and web platforms. In this phase, we: a. Designed the login, onboarding, and dashboard screens b. Integrated real-time data from Spring Boot APIs c. Focused on accessibility features like voice prompts and larger UI elements for better usability Our gamification module, built using Unity, brought lessons to life. We: a. Developed interactive VR Labs for subjects like Chemistry and Physics b. Created Encouragement Rooms with customizable avatars and animations c. Designed AI-driven NPCs to act as virtual teachers, capable of understanding progress and guiding users accordingly d.Integrated Unity scenes with Flutter using Unity-Flutter communication channels To manage data, user profiles, progress tracking, and content delivery, we built a scalable backend using Spring Boot. Key features included: a. RESTful APIs for Flutter and Unity communication b. User authentication and role-based access c.Real-time progress storage and feedback generation d. Admin panel for managing content and monitoring usage
