Description

GeneFlow is a platform that transforms genetic data ownership by leveraging Neon EVM on Solana. The platform enables users to upload genetic data files from services like 23andMe, encrypt them client-side with wallet-derived keys, and receive AI-powered health insights—all while maintaining complete data sovereignty.

Built on Neon EVM, GeneFlow combines Ethereum's mature smart contract ecosystem with Solana's superior speed and low transaction costs. This architecture allowed me to rapidly deploy our existing Solidity contracts for genetic data management while gaining Solana's throughput advantages—critical for processing complex genetic datasets efficiently.

Traditional genetic testing companies have suffered major security breaches (7 million 23andMe users affected in 2023) and routinely sell user data. GeneFlow solves this problem through a privacy-first approach where genetic data never leaves the user's device unencrypted. Our implementation uses Neon EVM's compatibility layer to enable wallet-based encryption keys, with Solana's blockchain providing tamper-proof storage of encrypted genetic data hashes.

The platform features comprehensive report categories including methylation analysis, carrier status, nutrition insights, and ancestry composition—all secured through Solana's blockchain and accessible via OKX wallet integration. Our AI-powered chat interface allows users to ask specific questions about their genetic information in natural language, democratizing access to insights that would typically cost $5,000+ in specialized genetic tests. As Antoly likes to say, devs will eat glass if there is an opportunity for the users, and this affords a layer of composibility for an entire ecosystem of services and apps aroud genetic data that you truly own.

Fee-Sharing Approach using OKX

Unlike traditional genetic testing companies that monetize user data, GeneFlow employs OKX DEX API's powerful fee customization parameters to enable frictionless microtransactions that fund protocol development while respecting user sovereignty.When users purchase premium features/user-created addons or upgrade their access tier, OKX DEX API's swap functionality handles the transaction while automatically directing a small percentage to the protocol treasury. This creates a virtuous cycle where protocol usage funds ongoing development and infrastructure costs.

Pay-Per-Analysis Flexibility

For specialized genetic analysis needs, GeneFlow implements a pay-as-you-go model using OKX DEX API's microtransaction capabilities. Users can purchase specific premium reports with SOL, with transactions routed through OKX DEX API to ensure optimal pricing and minimal slippage.

Progress During Hackathon

I am still getting the hang of rust and as a solo wanted to build a fully working product with something I understood well (solidity), so leveraged Neon EVM to rapidly build GeneFlow. Significant accomplishments: Fully working MVP that saves you $5,000k+ in tests while offering the same thing and more. Created our Solidity-based genetic data management contracts and deployed to Neon EVM, enabling compatibility with Solana's high-performance and accessible EVM-based architecture. Solana Performance Optimization: Refactored the data storage architecture to take advantage of Solana's high throughput and low fees, enabling more efficient management of genetic data operations. Neon-Native Wallet Integration: Adapted the encryption key derivation system to work with both Ethereum and Solana wallet formats through Neon EVM's compatibility layer, ensuring broader accessibility. But ran into issues on the Solana side that I am still trying to fix. AI Analysis Engine: Integrates anonymized data with an LLM to interpret and analyze the data.
