Description

Sobujhaat – Greening Commerce, Empowering Communities

Project Overview:

Sobujhaat is an eco-conscious, Web3-powered e-commerce platform designed to bridge the gap between local vendors and modern consumers. Rooted in sustainability, decentralization, and inclusivity, the platform encourages conscious consumption by offering a digital marketplace for locally-sourced, organic, and handcrafted products. The name Sobujhaat ("Green Market" in Bengali) reflects its core mission — to build a thriving digital haat (market) that supports both the planet and the people.
Key Features:

  1. Local Vendor Empowerment
Sobujhaat provides a digital storefront for small-scale farmers, artisans, and sustainable producers who often lack access to mainstream e-commerce platforms. It enables them to list products easily, reach a wider audience, and receive fair compensation.

  2. Eco-Friendly Product Marketplace
From organic groceries and handmade crafts to reusable essentials, Sobujhaat curates only environmentally responsible and locally-produced items, encouraging a green lifestyle.

  3. Web3 Integration
    Leveraging blockchain technology, Sobujhaat ensures:

    • Secure, transparent transactions

    • Decentralized identity management for vendors

    • Smart contracts for vendor payments and supply tracking

    • Token-based rewards system for both buyers and sellers who follow sustainable practices.

  4. Vendor-Based Locality Channels
Inspired by the structure of community platforms like Discord, Sobujhaat offers location-based vendor "channels" — allowing users to explore and shop from markets closest to their area, reducing carbon footprints and fostering hyperlocal economies.

  5. AI-powered Vendor Matching
The platform uses AI to match users with relevant vendors based on location, preferences, and purchase history, streamlining the buying experience while uplifting small businesses.

  6. Eco Impact Dashboard
Users can view the environmental impact of their purchases — like carbon saved by buying local or plastic reduced by using eco products.

🔧 Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: Next.js + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS

  • Backend: Firebase for auth, database, and cloud functions

  • Blockchain: Ethereum/Polygon smart contracts (Solidity) for transaction transparency

  • AI Layer: AI recommendation engine for vendor/product suggestions

  • Design System: Chakra UI for reusable and accessible components

💡 Vision:

Sobujhaat envisions a future where every purchase supports a farmer, an artisan, or a local entrepreneur — not a massive corporation. By combining modern tech with traditional values of community and sustainability, Sobujhaat aims to redefine how we shop and live. It's more than just a platform — it's a movement toward a greener economy and a fairer future.

Progress During Hackathon

During the two-day hackathon, we conceptualized and began building Sobujhaat, an eco-friendly, Web3-powered marketplace connecting users with local vendors. We designed a dark-themed, nature-inspired landing page to reflect the project’s green values. Firebase was integrated for user and vendor authentication, and we developed the UI for a locality-based vendor browsing system. Basic smart contracts for vendor registration and product listings were drafted, and initial work on an AI-based vendor suggestion system was started. While the project is still in development and not yet deployed, the core foundation is ready and functional.
