Description

Varuna is an advanced AI-powered decision support system designed specifically for merchant vessels. The project integrates three sophisticated AI models to enhance maritime safety and operational efficiency:

  1. Threat Detection System: A comprehensive security solution that utilizes computer vision and radar technology to identify and track nearby vessels, potential threats, and suspicious activities in real-time. The system includes object detection capabilities, proximity alerts, and integrated AIS radar monitoring.

  2. Fire Alert System: An advanced fire prevention and detection system that combines thermal imaging with AI analysis. It features real-time thermal camera feeds from critical areas like the engine room, bridge, and cargo bay, complete with automated fire detection, suppression system monitoring, and instant alert notifications.

  3. Navigation Control System: An intelligent navigation assistant that provides real-time route optimization, collision avoidance, and course corrections. The system features a 3D globe visualization, interactive navigation mapping, and AI-powered insights for optimal route planning and vessel management.

The entire system is built with a modern, responsive interface using React and Three.js, offering a seamless user experience while providing critical decision support for maritime operations. All three AI models work in concert to provide comprehensive vessel management and safety features, making Varuna an essential tool for modern maritime operations.

Progress During Hackathon

During the hackathon, we successfully developed Varuna, an advanced AI-powered decision support system for merchant vessels. The project features a comprehensive dashboard with real-time ship monitoring capabilities, including a 3D ship visualization model and interactive navigation maps. We implemented critical functionalities such as ship health monitoring displaying engine, fuel, and hull weathering metrics, AI-powered insights for navigation control, fire alerts, and threat detection. The system includes an AIS radar system for vessel tracking and a detailed fuel efficiency monitor. The application's modern UI was built using React and Three.js, featuring a responsive design with a professional dark theme optimized for maritime operations. All components are integrated into a cohesive system that provides real-time decision support for vessel operations. We created three ai models - Threat Detection, Fire Alert System and Navigation System.
