Description
VeriNest is a blockchain-powered platform making property transactions and construction jobs safer and more transparent in Africa. Today, buying land or renting property often involves fraud, missing paperwork, and little trust between buyers, agents, and lawyers. At the same time, millions of construction workers are unbanked and disconnected from digital opportunities.
Our solution uses smart contracts and the VERN token to enable secure escrow payments (in crypto or Naira), verified property listings, and a geo-verified job board for workers. Lawyers, agents, and verifiers play a role in checking documents, and a DAO governance model keeps the system community-driven.
In short: VeriNest is building Africa’s trust layer for real estate and labor, a simple, fair way for people to own land, hire workers, and get paid with confidence.
Progress During Hackathon
During the hackathon, we successfully launched the mining phase of VeriNest, which allowed early adopters to begin interacting with the VERN token. This gave us the opportunity to test token distribution and community onboarding in a live environment. While working on the smart contract escrow module, we encountered technical bugs that prevented full deployment. To keep development moving, we deployed a demo counter contract as a placeholder and proof-of-concept. This allowed us to validate our deployment pipeline and test core interactions on-chain. The next step after the hackathon is to debug and complete the escrow contract, followed by integrating it into the property verification workflow.
