The Development Associate works closely with the Associate Development Manager in managing account activities and processes. Ideal candidates are excited about thinking creatively and building big, but simple solutions. Successful Development Associates are passionate about teamwork and direct communication and believe that no problem is somebody else’s.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AREAS
Research and Strategy
- Conduct in-depth research on foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other potential funders with a goal to qualify and prioritize these funders for Smarter Good’s clients.
- Analyze and build on data generated by research to craft strong, effective, and fact-based funder reports, and recommend a strategy and an approach for grant applications.
Content Development Support
- Draft strategic content, including email outreach to help clients cultivate strong relationships with funders.
- Create other products that support the fundraising and organizational development needs of Smarter Good and its clients, including but not limited to email updates, newsletters, blog or social media content, impact stories, and quarterly or annual reports.
Client Relationship and Service Delivery
- Support Development Manager in managing client relationships: Ensure assigned clients’ satisfaction through seamless delivery of agreed deliverables and timely response to client communications
- Weigh priorities and manage various workloads and deliverables
- Develop and maintain client work plans and reports
Knowledge Management and Team Support
- Manage team’s collective knowledge by ensuring information and data generated by research, reports, and analyses are entered into systems that can be accessed within and across teams
- Collaborate extensively with the writing team on processing client information

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree
- At least 18 months of experience in project management and/or account management tasks, preferably in a B2B set-up (experience in account management for creative services is an advantage)
- Excellent direct communication and relationship building skills
- Experience in entrepreneurial environments that require proactivity and self-directed work
- Experience in and/or demonstrable interest in international development, social entrepreneurship, community development, and the social sector
