Business Analyst

Job Purpose:

Responsible in understanding and documenting project requirements within the company and to successfully manage small and medium scope projects to completion. This includes understanding of where we are before the project, where we want to be after the project and the required steps to reach the goal.

Essential Job Functions / Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Document and evaluate business requirements, uncover areas for improvement in existing product backlog in coordination with the development team and stakeholders.
• Research and analyze impact of a project on other areas of the business.
• Gain the commitment of those responsible for making required decisions regarding functionality and behaviors of a proposed IT solution through formal sign-off of the requirements’ documentation.
• Capture and maintain healthy business rules that define how the business will operate independently of technology.
• Manage customer expectations and communication.
• Work in teams alongside developers, QA testers and designers to ensure that understanding of the requirements are clear and consistent across team members.

• Experience with one or more software delivery methodology such as Waterfall or Agile
• Programming experience is a big plus (any language)
• A general understanding of change management, business process management, and project management
• Good written and oral communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Good planning, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to present and facilitate business issues and solutions to stakeholders with different and sometimes conflicting perspectives
• BA certification (e.g. IIBA, BCS) and/or agile certification (e.g. SCRUM) are preferable.
