Technical Product Owner
Role Summary
Technical Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing product requirements for water-related technology solutions. This role acts as the key liaison between business stakeholders, customers, engineering, operations, and product development teams to ensure that product features are technically feasible, commercially valuable, and aligned with customer needs.
The role requires strong knowledge of product ownership, Agile/Scrum practices, technical documentation, water systems, automation, sensors, IoT-enabled monitoring, and system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain the product backlog for water system products, platforms, and related digital or hardware-enabled solutions.
- Translate business goals, customer needs, field feedback, and operational requirements into user stories, technical specifications, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize features, enhancements, and technical fixes based on customer impact, business value, technical feasibility, compliance requirements, and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, QA, UI/UX, operations, and field service teams throughout planning, development, testing, validation, and release.
- Define requirements for water system solutions involving water treatment, filtration, dosing, flow monitoring, pressure control, water quality sensing, and remote monitoring.
- Support the development of IoT-enabled features, including sensors, controllers, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, reports, and data-driven monitoring tools.
- Review product requirements, process flows, technical specifications, prototypes, test results, and validation outputs to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, roadmap reviews, release planning, UAT, and post-release product performance reviews.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to clarify scope, resolve requirement gaps, manage dependencies, and communicate risks, trade-offs, and release updates.
- Maintain product documentation, including product requirement documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, release notes, process maps, and decision logs.
- Monitor product performance, customer feedback, field issues, defect trends, and improvement opportunities after release.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar role in a technical product environment.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, product lifecycle management, requirements gathering, backlog prioritization, and release coordination.
- Working knowledge of water systems, water treatment, utilities, automation, IoT, sensors, control systems, or industrial technology.
- Ability to translate complex technical, business, and operational requirements into clear product specifications and actionable development tasks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, prioritization, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams, including hardware, firmware, software, QA, operations, and business stakeholders.

- Experience with pumps, valves, filtration systems, dosing systems, flow meters, pressure sensors, water quality sensors, SCADA, PLC, telemetry, or remote monitoring platforms.
- Exposure to cloud dashboards, mobile applications, analytics tools, automation systems, or industrial IoT solutions.
- Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, Notion, Confluence, Figma, Miro, or similar product and documentation tools.
- Experience supporting technical product launches, pilot deployments, customer validation, system testing, or continuous product improvement.
