Additionally, the absence of accessible, scalable, and structured interview practice leaves many job seekers unprepared for real-world scenarios.

Inspiration

The inspiration behind AI_DRIVEN_INTERVIEW stems from the growing need for realistic and accessible interview preparation. As students, job seekers, and career switchers struggle to gain practical interview experience, we identified a gap in affordable and personalized training. Our platform aims to bridge this gap by providing an AI-powered interview simulation with real-time feedback and expert insights, allowing users to hone their skills in both technical and behavioral aspects of interviews.

What it does

AI_DRIVEN_INTERVIEW is an AI-powered platform designed to simulate live, interactive, and personalized interview experiences. Users start by selecting their target role, experience level, tech stack, and uploading their resume. Based on this data, the system generates tailored questions using advanced AI models, providing a mock interview experience that feels authentic and contextual to each user.

One of our key innovations is the Interview Battle Arena. Users can challenge their friends or peers to live mock interview battles. Each participant receives real-time AI-generated questions and responds while the system performs live speech-to-text transcription. The AI evaluates each answer on criteria such as clarity, relevance, confidence, and communication skills. After the battle, the platform analyzes the performance of both users, interprets the data, and displays results through a dynamic leaderboard. This gamified element fosters engagement, boosts motivation, and encourages users to track and improve their performance over time.

Users also receive detailed feedback in the form of scores, visual graphs, and actionable suggestions to improve both technical and behavioral aspects. This includes cues on posture, speech pace, filler word usage, and overall communication style. With adaptive AI, the platform continuously evolves to suit user performance, ensuring a unique and growth-focused experience for every user.

The platform is purpose-built for students preparing for placements, job seekers tackling interviews, and professionals looking to switch careers or upskill.

How we built it

We built AI_DRIVEN_INTERVIEW using a powerful stack of modern technologies. For intelligent question generation and feedback, we integrated Gemini AI, and for real-time audio transcription, we utilized AssemblyAI. User authentication and session handling are managed securely with Clerk.

Our front end is developed using React, Next.js, and styled with Tailwind CSS for a clean, responsive, and modern UI. On the backend, we employed Prisma and MongoDB for robust data management. We use Cloudinary for seamless file and image storage. To personalize interviews, we incorporated PDF parsing libraries that extract relevant data from user resumes, enabling AI to generate context-aware questions.

Challenges we ran into

Developing an AI system that generates high-quality, role-specific, and adaptive questions in real-time was a complex challenge. Ensuring the speech-to-text transcription worked smoothly across devices and varied internet speeds added further technical hurdles.

We also faced challenges in visualizing and analyzing data to provide meaningful feedback, while ensuring the UI remained simple and intuitive. Building the competitive interview battle mode and integrating dynamic leaderboards required careful balancing of performance, user experience, and data accuracy. Moreover, aligning AI analysis with human expectations took multiple iterations and feedback cycles.

We successfully developed a fully functional and user-friendly platform that combines the power of AI with real-time user interactions. We're proud of the Arena-based Interview Battle System, which brings a fun, competitive twist to mock interviews. The real-time speech-to-text integration and automated feedback system make the platform highly interactive and personalized.

Our dynamic leaderboard, tailored resume-based question generation, and visual feedback dashboard are milestones we are particularly proud of, delivering a unique and motivating experience for interview preparation.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to align AI capabilities with user expectations in a high-stakes domain like interview prep. We gained deep insights into how AI can enhance communication training, not just technical evaluation. Designing for real-time responsiveness taught us the importance of backend optimization and system resilience.

We also learned how gamification through battle arenas and leaderboards significantly improves user retention and motivation. Balancing technical implementation with user-centered design was a valuable learning experience.
