Arland is a blockchain-based strategy game where players manage their own islands, grow resources, and engage with others through trading and combat. What makes Arland unique is that every game mechanic happens fully on-chain—from building farms and mines to launching PvP battles. Each island exists as a smart contract, ensuring true ownership, transparency, and fairness.

Players start with basic resources (Wheat and Gold) and must decide how to invest: expanding land, strengthening defenses, or building armies to raid opponents. Victory depends on strategy, resource management, and timing. Unlike most Web3 games that only tokenize assets, Arland integrates the entire gameplay loop into smart contracts, making combat, trade, and growth trustless and verifiable.

On the frontend, Arland brings islands to life with 3D models and interactive visuals built using Three.js, merging immersive design with decentralized infrastructure.

Arland is more than a game—it’s a step toward real-world inspired, fully on-chain gaming where player actions create a living, evolving world governed by blockchain logic.

We began our journey by exploring the Arbitrum ecosystem, diving into tools like Arbitrum One, Stylus, and WASM. This exploration helped us understand the flexibility and scalability of the stack, while also sparking inspiration for what we could build. After experimenting with different ideas, we decided to create Arland—a blockchain-based strategy game where every island exists as its own smart contract. What excited us about this idea is that all mechanics, including PvP battles, happen fully on-chain. Unlike most Web3 games that only keep assets on-chain, Arland innovates by bringing the entire gameplay loop (building, trading, attacking, defending) into smart contracts. This opens the door for a new class of real-world inspired, fully on-chain games, where strategy, fairness, and transparency are guaranteed by the blockchain itself. PvP mechanics in particular are an area rarely explored on-chain, and we believe Arland sets a strong precedent here. On the frontend, we challenged ourselves to learn 3D modeling and Three.js, building an immersive island world that makes the gameplay visually engaging while still connected to on-chain logic. Through this buildathon, we’ve not only expanded our technical skills in smart contracts, game design, and 3D Web3 interfaces, but also demonstrated how blockchain can push gaming beyond token economies—into truly decentralized, strategy-driven experiences.
